Writing Coaching
Sharing Your Wisdom
Do you long to share your transformational knowledge, skills and solutions with others? Dream of writing articles, ebooks, nonfiction books and more?
Have you written something that just isn't working yet? Are you suffering from procrastination, lack of motivation and other forms of writer's block?
Then it's time to get started! Just remember...
If not you, then who?
As Martha Graham states so beautifully in the quote to the right, if you don't let "it" come through, the world won't have it.
If you don't put your wisdom out there, it may be lost altogether.
How writing coaching can help
As a writing coach, I can help you:
Get started
To get the visioning process started, I ask you questions that open up your thinking about your subject, audience and purpose.
I also introduce you to fun, creative tools that will help you generate ideas, break through writer's block, and get your energy flowing. (To see examples of these, go to Creative Tools.)
Find your story
I help you break down your writing task into manageable chunks that enable you to tackle and complete the process step-by-step.
I suggest ways you can research your topic, find its overall theme, and brainstorm and organize its major points (or chapters).
Tell your story
I encourage you to write the first draft quickly, in an almost meditative process, by turning off your inner critic and letting the ideas flow from your mind and heart onto the paper (or screen).
Bring your story to life
It is in the revising process that magic happens.
In a cooperative, back-and-forth process, I give you feedback on your writing while encouraging you to develop your own voice and style.
I help to ensure that your ideas are clearly organized, well developed, and full of the rich detail, anecdotes and illustrations that will bring your story to life.
Polish your story
When the final draft is ready, I help to polish it through copyediting and proofreading.
For example, I help you choose strong, active verbs and concrete nouns; eliminate wordiness; and turn passive constructions into active voice. And I make sure your final draft is free of errors in grammar, spelling, word choice and punctuation.
