About Clarice Dankers
Writing Coach, Editor, Writer & Teacher
As a lifelong learner, I have constantly sought to understand how human beings can achieve their full potential.
I am fascinated by the latest research on how the brain, heart, body and emotions work together to foster learning, healing and creativity.
And I have enormous respect for the way in which putting our words down on paper helps us invent new worlds, become conscious of what we actually think and feel, acquire knowledge, and heal.
My desire to learn has led me on a journey that includes the study of spirituality, brain-based learning, holistic health and healing, and the power of writing and music to ignite learning, creativity and healing.
The urge to share what I discover has led me to become a teacher, mentor and coach.
Languages and International Cultures
My other major passion has been foreign languages and international cultures. This led me to earn a BA in German and French and an MA in Linguistics with an emphasis on Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
It also led to a lifetime of living and working with people from around the world.
I taught ESL for eight years in places ranging from Mexico City, Mexico, and Kabul, Afghanistan (Peace Corps Volunteer), to Portland, Oregon. I then started working for international corporations, where I wrote and edited business communications for the next eight years.
Freelance Writing, Coaching & Editing
In 2002, I returned to college to earn an MA in Writing with an emphasis on Publishing. In addition, as a Graduate Assistant, I taught undergraduate writing composition courses and consulted in the Writing Lab.
I have maintained my own writing/coaching/editing business since 2004.
Affiliations
I serve on the Executive Committee of the International Alliance for Learning, which is the premier organization for educators and corporate trainers who apply Accelerated Learning methodologies to their work.
I am also a member of the NW Coaches Association, Self-Employed Creative Professionals, Willamette Writers, and Women in Portland Publishing.
